Poly Hockey

Practice

Reach out to your head coach to see if your team is practicing. Teams that are practicing must follow all the COVID-19 Return to Play practice guidelines. There are no team games or scrimmages this season. We may offer a Poly Hockey skills competition at a team practice or an Invitational.

Competitions

Still to be determined, check back for more information. The events dates and locations will be available on the Invitational page once they are confirmed.

Registration

Reach out to your head coach. If they are participating in practices or Invitationals they will register you. If your team is not participating but you want to, please email [email protected] to let us know what Invitational you want to attend this winter.

Snowshoe & Boot Racing

Practice

Reach out to your head coach to see if your team is practicing. Teams that are practicing must follow all the COVID-19 Return to Play practice guidelines.

Competitions

We are hosting small Snowshoe Invitationals that will be scheduled into small shifts, with limited amount of people on site during each shift. The event distances, dates and locations will be available on the Invitational page. There will be a boot racing division for participants that want to compete but do not have snowshoes. There is also a virtual opportunity for teams that are unable to travel in person but would like to submit their scores from Return to Play practice.

Powerlifting

Practice

Reach out to your head coach to see if your team is practicing. Teams that are practicing must follow all the COVID-19 Return to Play practice guidelines.

Competitions

There are no in person powerlifting competitions this year. Athletes will compete by attending practice and having their coach submit their best lifts from the season. SOMN will division and award athletes virtually at the end of the winter season.

Registration

Reach out to your head coach. If they are participating in practices they will register you. If your team is not participating, unfortunately you are unable to participate in powerlifting on your own this year due to the safety requirements of having a certified powerlifting coach present at all practices.

Alpine Ski & Snowboard

Practice

Reach out to your head coach to see if your team is practicing. Teams that are practicing must follow all the COVID-19 Return to Play practice guidelines.

Competitions

There are no in-person Alpine Ski or Snowboard competitions this year. Currently there are no NASTAR races scheduled in the region. Athletes will compete by attending practice and having their coach send us a time from the slalom, giant slalom, downhill and/or glide events. SOMN will division and award athletes virtually at the end of the winter season.

Registration

Reach out to your head coach. If they are participating in practices or Invitationals they will register you.

Ice Fishing

Practice

You can participate on your own, no Special Olympics team or coach needed in order to participate. You must have a valid fishing license. The Minnesota DNR offers a fishing license for free for people with developmental disabilities. Please visit the Minnesota DNR web page for more information and to apply for a license.

Competitions

There are no in person Ice Fishing events. Go fishing, catch a fish and take picture of it, then tell us about it.

Registration

You’ll have to register yourself. What fish did you catch? Measure it and weigh it, then send that information plus the photo to [email protected].
